Kansas City-Style Baby Back Smoked Ribs

The ultimate combination of smoky, sweet, and savory flavors. These ribs are generously coated with a bold, spice-packed dry rub, then slow-smoked to perfection until they develop a deep, flavorful bark.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs
  • 1 cup Kansas City-style barbecue sauce Gates Bar-B-Q Sauce or Arthur Bryant’s Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional

Instructions

  • Prepare the Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs.
  • Make the Rub: Combine chili powder, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if using) in a bowl. Rub the mixture generously over both sides of the ribs.
  • Smoke the Ribs: Smoke the ribs at 225-250°F for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender and pulls back easily from the bone.
  • Baste and Glaze: Brush the ribs with barbecue sauce during the last 30 minutes of smoking.
  • Rest and Serve: Remove the ribs from the smoker, let them rest for 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
